Team adds two new Directors, as it transitions to Pro Tour level

Greenville, S.C. (October 31, 2017) - With their Pro-Continental application submitted to UCI, Holowesko|Citadel eagerly anticipates the 2018 season. Mark Holowesko and investment management company Citadel continue as title sponsors for the team, and Arapahoe Resources, LLC joins the team as a presenting sponsor.

Arapahoe Resources, based out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is an oil and gas exploration company mainly concentrated in the Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountain regions. The company supported its own cycling team, Team Arapahoe Resources, from 2015 through 2017. Owner Paul E. Kloberdanz, Jr., always hoped to one day see the cyclists ride in the Tour de France. George Hincapie shared the same vision for his own team.

“Paul and I have the same goals—to go World Tour,” says George Hincapie. “So it made sense that he joined forces with us so that we all could try to make that vision become a reality.”

Says Kloberdanz, “Over the years, I’ve witnessed the progression and success of our team riders, as well as the success and true grit of Holowesko|Citadel. It was obvious to me that joining with Holowesko|Citadel was the next step.”

This vision is one that’s also shared with title sponsor Mark Holowesko, who has supported the team for multiple years. “I’m excited and proud to continue my support of this team and the Hincapie family,” says Mark Holowesko. “George and Rich continue to produce a program and team that is able to compete at the highest levels of cycling while concentrating on development of riders and the sport.”

Ken Griffin, CEO of Citadel, adds, “Rich and George Hincapie are doing incredible work to provide the next generation with an opportunity to pursue their goals as professional cyclists.”

The growth is not just at the sponsorship level. In anticipation of moving to the Pro-Continental level, the team also has hired two new directors: Bobby Julich, who will serve as the Performance Director, and Radisa Cubric, Second Director. Thomas Craven, who has led the team to multiple titles in its five short years, remains the team’s Chief Sports Director.

Julich, a Tour de France veteran and Olympic medalist, has previously held coaching positions for Team Saxo Bank, Team Sky, Team BMC, and Tinkov. He also shares a history with Craven, whom he rode with on team Chevrolet/LA Sheriff in the 90s. The Hincapies aren’t strangers either.

“I am extremely happy and excited to be joining the team,” says Julich. “I have known Rich and George since we were juniors, and as fate would have it, here we are working together on this project 30+ years later. I’ve had the honor of working with many top-level cycling teams and coaching many of the world’s top pro riders, and I look forward to using my experience to help take this team to the next level.”

Cubric, a native of Serbia, also rode against Craven, Julich, and the Hincapies in his youth while on several different American teams. In addition, he competed in the Summer Olympics in 1992 and, after retirement, went on to direct several pro teams. He just recently served as head coach and team manager for the Serbian National Team for more than 100 UCI races.

“We’re really looking forward to the 2018 season,” says George Hincapie. “We have the right leadership in place, solid sponsorship partners, and some really good guys on the team. I can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s my aim that we continue to grow year after year, eventually getting to World Tour. This is the first step toward that goal.”
